Niger Insurance and Briscoe among top gainers as Nigerian capital market stabilizes after decline


Investors in the Nigerian stock market went home with 39.6 billion naira following the rise in equity capitalization of 0.15% on Friday.

After eight hours of nonstop trading on the capital market floor, the equity capitalization fell from 25.52 trillion naira to 25.56 trillion naira to complete the turnaround in fortunes after two days of consecutive losses.

The All-Share index rose 73.5 basis points to close at 47,437.48 from 47,363.98 recorded the previous day.

On Friday, investors parted with N7.02 for 1.15 million shares in 3,928 trades.

This exceeded the 4.47 billion naira invested by investors on 261.55 million shares in 4,672 transactions on Thursday.

Niger Insurance led the winners’ board, closing with a gain of 10% to 0.22 kobo from 0.20 kobo per share.

RT Briscoe’s share rose 8.96% from 0.67 kobo to 0.73 kobo per share.

UPDC’s share increased by 7.61% from 0.92 kobo to 0.99 kobo per share.

UACN’s share rose by N0.60kobo to go from N10.05 to N10.65kobo per share.

Cornerstone gained 5.71% to end trading with N0.74kobo against N0.70kobo per share.

Royal Exchange tops the losers chart, losing N0.13kb from N1.34kb to N1.21kb per share.

Ellah Lakes’ share fell N0.33kobo to end trading at N3.12kobo from N3.45kobo per share.

Pharmdeko’s stock depreciated by N2 to N1.84kobo per share after losing N0.16kobo during trading.

Linkage Assurance lost 7.14% to end trading with N0.52kobo against N0.56kobo per share.

Unilever completed the list after losing N0.80kobo of its market price to drop from N14 to N13.20kobo per share.

FCMB led the day’s trading with 932.88 million shares valued at 3.49 billion naira.

Zenith Bank followed with 29.94 million shares valued at N805.64 million.

Access Bank traded 22.50 million shares worth N227.82 million.

Fidelity Bank sold 19.30 million shares worth N55.15 million, while United Capital traded 16.87 million worth N208.52 million.
