Haranga Resources (HAR) has confirmed uranium mineralization at its Saraya uranium project in Senegal, West Africa.

A total of 1361 termite mound samples were collected on a 50 meter by 50 meter sampling grid over known uranium mineralization.

Samples were taken from deep-rooted termite mounds with the aim of detecting bedrock-derived uranium anomalies in the deeper part of the saprolite.

The investigation revealed anomalous uranium concentrations of between seven and 41 parts per million, confirming that surface sampling can detect uranium mineralization in bedrock.

The survey also detected potassium, rubidium and strontium depletion in termite mounds, further confirming that the termite mound sampling method can detect geochemical patterns in bedrock.

These results are encouraging as historical geochemical surveys have not sampled termite mounds and have been inconclusive in areas where saprolite cover masks any potential uranium mineralization.

Haranga will now undertake a 2,000 meter core drilling program in Q2 to obtain mineralized episyenite rock samples.

The results of this program will add to the understanding of the relationship between the mineralized rock and the overlying saprolite and will determine the regional termite mound sampling program planned for Q2.

Haranga is also in the process of negotiating the acquisition of historical exploration data, including the drilling database.

“It is pleasing to see these initial results from Saraya and in particular to prove that the termite mound sampling method is an inexpensive, fast and highly effective way of detecting subsurface mineralization,” said Chairman Peter Youd.

“We are also pleased to see the presence of other critical minerals in the samples collected and the company will investigate this alongside our ongoing uranium exploration program.”

Haranga ended the day 2.13% in the red with shares trading at 23 cents.
