Guinness leads winners in Nigerian capital market as investors pocket £69.57bn


There was a massive gain on Thursday February 10 in the Nigerian capital Marlet while investors pocket ₦69.57 billion.

Naija News understands yesterday’s investment was up 0.27 percent in stock capitalization at the day’s close of business.

Equity capitalization increased by 69.5 trillion naira from 21.41 trillion naira recorded the day before yesterday to 25.48 trillion naira today.

The market, however, could not end without a decline for some investors.

For Union Bank of Nigeria, its share depreciated by ₦6.25 kobo to ₦6.05 per share after losing ₦0.20 kobo during trading.

Guinness, however, led the winners chart following its share price increase of ₦5 from ₦50 to ₦55 per share

The All-Share Index rose 129.11 basis points to close at 47,286.34 from 47,157.23 the previous day.

Investors traded 198.11 million shares worth ₦3.40 billion in 4,294 trades on Thursday, Naija News understand.

That was lower than the 297.24 million shares valued at 4.69 billion naira that traded hands in 4,661 trades on Wednesday.

Total gained N23.90 kobo to end trading at ₦264.90 kobo from ₦241 per share.

UPDC share price increased by ₦0.10kobo from ₦1.01 to N1.11kobo per share.

RT Briscoe’s share price rose 9.09% from 0.33 kobo to 0.36 kobo per share.

UPL gained 0.20 kobo to end trading at 2.65 kobo from 2.45 kobo per share.

Veritas Kapital topped the losers chart after losing 4.35% of its share to drop from N0.23kobo to N0.22kobo per share.

Ikeja Hotel’s share price fell 2.74% to end at ₦1.42kobo from ₦1.46kobo per share.

Regal Insurance lost 2.50% to end trading at 0.39 kobo to 0.40 kobo per share.

FCMB completed the list after losing 2.34% of its market price from ₦2.99 kobo to ₦2.92 kobo per share.

Chams led the day’s trading with 16.73 million shares worth N3.51 million.

Transcorp Insurance negotiated €15.38 million worth N17.81 million.

Access Bank followed with 14.28 million shares valued at N149.45 million.

UBA sold 12.54 million shares worth ₦109.82 million, while Flour Mill traded 12.14 million worth ₦389.37 million.
